21 - 22 June, 2012

Bucharest, Romania

Workshop

Further to the Senior Official and Expert Workshop on Clusters of Knowledge, which took place on 14-15 December 2010 in Sarajevo, Romania assumed to lead the Cluster of Knowledge dedicated to Modernizing VET system – improving performance, quality and attractiveness of VET.

The cluster on Modernizing VET system is envisaging to organize a number of expert meetings and to develop mechanisms and instruments in order to implement, at a school level, a quality culture and to allow an increasing attractiveness of VET as a training pathway, which ensures equal opportunities for students and the skills which are needed on the existing and future labour market. The cluster is inviting participants to exchange on specific issues, e.g. quality assurance and matching VET supply with labour market demand, in order to allow the development of concerted tools, to enhance mutual trust and to learn from each other.

The cluster shall play a crucial role in implementing Europe 2020 with its key flagship initiatives that embrace education and training (Youth on the Move and The Agenda New Skills and Jobs) under the TFBHC and ERI SEE support.

Concrete thematic cluster subtopics, activities and funding option were identified by representatives of SEE region and initial cluster consortium was established on the occasion of the two meetings held in 2011 (kick-off meeting in Bucharest on 30-31 May, and regional workshop in Vienna on 24-25 November).

The envisaged cluster output is a Compendium of best practices elaborated with the contribution of all members of the cluster and based on the identified good practices in enhancing VET attractiveness in SEE region. During the two meetings held in 2011 the main subtopics for the Compendium as well as a format for the presentation of the good practices were identified by the participants.

The third workshop which will take place on 21-22 of June 2012 in Bucharest, Romania has the aim to collect and agree on the good practices examples identified by each country (which were implemented through projects or other initiatives and which already have good results which deserve to be known by other countries) in order to move towards the finalization of the Compendium.

The event will be organized by the National Centre for the Vocational Education Training Development – NCTVETD.
